Orphanage modernization

With our project named „Leave a Mark”, the Foundation has managed to collect, since 30 September 2012, HUF 800,000 in virtual bricks on our virtual wall (see our website www.hagyjnyomot.hu) – we used this sum to start renovating the building of the orphanage. The most urgent task was to reconstruct the bath and the water block. Work had started at the end of November and continued in January when the group of humanitarian tourists visited the orphanage and gave a hand in building the bath as well as constructing a fence and creating a football field and a vegetable garden in the yard of the orphanage. The former bathroom was in no condition to use and dangerous to hygiene so the walls had to be demolished and new walls, flooring, tiling, furnishing, fittings (toilet bowl, wash-basin, shower stall, pipes etc) needed to be installed. Thanks to our volunteers being present at the location we were able to buy building materials a lot cheaper so we did not have to compromise with one bathroom shared by boys and girls, but had the means to build separate rooms. The cesspools needed complete reconstruction as well. Hopefully, construction works are about to be completed and very soon we can announce the good news of finishing the reconstruction of the orphanage. Soon we are to erect the twin-piece of our virtual wall in Congo with all the marks left on it.
