Mariann has been able to make long term relationships in two months that are important and useful for our foundation in Congo. She was escorted and supported by Angelika many times during her work, and they proved to be efficient as workmates. We have been able to introduce our work to different organizations of UN (FAO, OCHA, MONUSCO, UNICEF) with Mariann’s help and could held discussions about future projects where cooperation seems fruitful. We have joined the humanitarian work of the highest level in the country , coordinated by OCHA and UNICEF, through which we can keep contact and work together if possible with the great humanitarian and development agencies. Apart from the UN organizations, we have met many people from different levels of society like business men, firm leaders and private people. They can help to reach our goals with their support, knowledge and personal influence in the future. We have organized a fund-raising cocktail party of the premium kind for them. Our efforts has already born their first fruits. We have received great quantity of English books from an international English language school, and many useful plastic household appliances from a local plastic factory. The latter gifts will be used in our orphan’s house and in the guest house of the foundation. In addition of these gifts, donations of smaller amounts have also arrived. They helped us to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve in a unique way in the orphan’s house. Apart making new contacts, Marian played an important role as an adviser. She has given many useful advices for the workers of the Foundation about how to work more efficiently. Mariann has started implementing an action plan in the school against AIDS, which is called „HIV/AIDS-Sexurity”. During the programm both the teachers and the pupils receive proper and adequate knowledge on separate lessons about HIV/AIDS, and they have chance to talk with the two leaders about any kinds of sexual problems without restrictions. One of them is an experienced psychologist who has been leading different kinds of programs about AIDS , including mental treatment of HIV tainted people for 14 years. The other one is a doctor. She can answer medical questions and refer people with special treatment needs to the proper institution. After one year, they plan to make small groups of the participants according to their age. This groups will instruct the next generation in the school, with the supervision of the teachers. We want to thank Mariann for all of these and hope to have a fruitful relationship in the future as well.
